P&O Cruises
The UK leaders have a new flagship for 2008. The 115,000 ton Ventura was christened by Dame Helen Mirren in Southampton on 16 April. Designed for the UK market, it features superb childrens’ facilities – including Noddy and Mr Bump, with many bars and restaurants and superb entertainment.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line
The world’s biggest cruise ship, 160,000 ton Independence of the Seas, sails from Southampton in 2008. Carrying over 4000 passengers, it brings Royal Caribbean’s climbing walls, ice rink and extensive passenger facilities to the UK market.
Cunard Cruise Line Queen Mary 2 continues its Atlantic crossings with extensions into Europe, whilst Queen Victoria and QE2 offer a selection of cruises from the UK. This is the QE2’s last season before leaving Cunard service in November 2008.
MSC Cruises
This fast-growing European cruise line is basing ships in the UK for the first time in 2008. MSC Armonia sails from Dover, mostly to the Baltic and Northern Europe. MSC Opera has a few sailings from Harwich.
